GREEN LANTERN

GREEN LANTERN
Motion pictures are often good or bad depending on
whether or not it conveys a message. The quality of a movie can be exceptional
in many ways. It can have amazing special effects, a huge budget, a clever
script and dialogue, and a feature length, etc. of cinematographic attributes
but still not connecting with the viewer. There are movies that you watch and
pass by as one more. No matter how "worked" they are in a few years,
they remember them. The reader may think that Green Lantern (2011) would enter
this type of film that he describes. Well, the answer is, for me, no. Then, I
will explain the reason for my answer.
Green Lantern released in 2011 is a film adaptation of a fictional universe of the DC comics Green Lantern. While the story that appears in the film does not appear in any comic. In the film, Hal Jordan (played by Ryan Reynolds) is a young, fearless, and skilled airplane pilot. When Hal's life seems meaningless, a most surprising event changes his life. A dying Green Lantern who has just landed on Earth runs into his path, he gives him his ring of power and since then Hal Jordan is a Green Lantern. The name Green Lantern (Green Lantern) refers to some warriors of the universe in charge of safeguarding order and good throughout the universe. The characteristic of these Guardians of the universe is that their power comes from the Will. In this fiction it is the Will that is the motor of the world. It is the primary and most powerful force that exists. On the contrary, Fear is the opposite of Will. It is Fear that paralyzes the action of the creatures of the Galaxy and it is Will that leads them to action, to move on. It is Will that strives to achieve Good and it is Fear that leads living beings to act evilly. Let's remember what Yoda said to Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: Fear is the way to the Dark Side. Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hatred, hatred leads to suffering. I sense much fear in you"
The plot of the film could be summarized as follows. A force of Evil, that is, Fear in the form of corrupted beings (among them a former Green Lantern), threatens peace in the Galaxy. One of the best and most prestigious Green Lantern passes away (Abin Sur) and passes the witness to Hal Jordan who is human (the others are curious colored critters). Hal Jordan will be trained as a guardian and warrior of the Green Lantern and will have to deal with his personal life and being a superhero. At one point in the film, his girlfriend, Carol Ferrsi (Blake Lively) appears and they will have a beautiful love story on and off the screens because to date they are husband and wife (Reynolds and Lively).
Now comes why it seems like a good movie. When I saw it for the first time, what most caught my attention was the foundations on which the principles of the forces of this strange universe are based. I realized that what he said about Will and Fear was totally true. The Will guides and causes movement and action and Fear, its opposite, paralyzes and brings out the worst in us.
When a person has Willpower, he becomes free to be whatever he wants. When
a person is afraid they feel paralyzed and fear moves them to feelings such as
envy, greed, laziness, pride. These, which are some of the capital sins, are
the cause of most of the world's evils. (hence its adjective of capitals that
refers to the fact that they are generators of other evils).
Thinking about all of the above, reflecting and meditating on it is why I liked this film and since what matters is if a message reaches you directly, it touches the inner fiber, this film is good and recommended. If we all thought and reflected on this forceful message that is summarized in: The Will moves you towards Good and Fear towards Evil, we would be better and the world would be a little better. Greetings to all, see you in the next review. :)
